Black Insitu Testing have worked on many tailings dams at sites including Weipa, Gove, Gladstone, Cannington and Olympic Dam, as well as many smaller sites in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

Our larger clients include Rio Tinto, BHP, Queensland Alumia Limitied, South 32, Newmarket Gold and Iluka Resources.

We regularly conduct the following tests on tailings dams:

• CPTu (sensitive low capacity)

• Dissipation tests

• Vane shear tests

• Ball penetrometer tests

• Seismic CPT

• DMT

• Seismic DMT

• VWP installation,

• Disturbed piston soil sampling

• High quality undisturbed piston soil sampling.

We use a variety of rigs to access the tailings including CPT trucks, Geoprobe CPT rigs, Pagani CPT rig and the Lizard excavator platform.
